Golden Sandy Beaches

In North Devon we are blessed with a wonderful coastline and Exmoor National Park – all on your doorstep.

We are blessed with beautiful, clean, golden, sandy beaches in North Devon – all the best beaches are within a 15-20 minute drive of us. Woolacombe is a Blue Flag Beach. You can also try, Putsborough, Saunton and Croyde. Ask us about Barricane Bay and Lee Bay when you arrive.

We have 10 golf courses all within a 30 minute drive of us, Jerry has played a few and can give you some information when you arrive.

There are literally hundreds to choose from, the North Devon coast is awesome. We have walked a fair few and we have books and maps to help. We have also written up some local circular walks from The Long and Little House for you. Pick up a leaflet when you arrive. Here are a few coastal and Exmoor walks we recommend:
Heddons Mouth from Hunters Inn
Morte Point with Rockham Bay detour
Baggy Point to Croyde – lunch at Putsborough
Lee Bay to Bull Point lighthouse
Trentishoe Down
Pinkery Pond on Exmoor
Lanacre Bridge Walks – Exmoor
Tarr Steps – Exmoor

Choices, choices! Where to start! If the sun is out the beach is the best option. All the beaches in North Devon are glorious, golden sandy beaches and all are within 15-20 mins from us: Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough & Woolacombe are the favourites. Lee Bay is great for rock pooling & Crow Point is perfect for those with dogs!

Here are some other ideas of things to do while you are in North Devon and what we think of them.

The Tarka Trail
Bike hire for a jaunt along the safe and flat Tarka Trail call Otter Hire in Braunton 01271 813339, even my mum did this! That is how easy it is!!

The Big Sheep
A fun day out for all the family, good for all ages even for the very young, stop in Appledore for a Hockings ice cream on the way back!

Exmoor Zoo
A brilliant small zoo with close up views! Good for all ages, great play area and undercover picnic spot.

The Milky Way
Good rides, better for the over 3’s

Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park
Not been yet, looks quirky! See lions and watch a sea-lion display.

Learn to surf

Soooo much fun! Surf schools at all the main beaches try this one. We have plenty of space to store bikes, surfboards and golf clubs. Nick Thorn is the best (in my opinion) surf coach around. He is based at Putsborough (our favourite beach) he rents out a a huge sup too. Putsborough is the perfect beach to learn to surf.

You are spoilt for choice in North Devon and all very much on your doorstep.
